As we all know the credit crisis and crazy spending by our government, have caused investors to worry about the safety of the U.S. dollar. This has contributed to the upward movement in gold prices as many investors have felt this is a safer bet.

Lets first take a look at the company’s management…in May, NGHI appointed a new CEO. Dave Mathewson was appointed CEO as well as President and Cheif Geologist.
Dave Mathewson is well known in the Nevada gold community. He has been an exploration geologist for over 35 years and has spent the last 20 years focusing in Nevada. Mr. Mathewson is one of a handful of successful geologists in Nevada who has consistently found large commercial gold discoveries. One of his biggest successes was as head of Newmont Mining’s Great Basin and Carlin Trend exploration programs. During a 12-year period of time with Newmont, Mr. Mathewson and his teams were directly responsible for the discovery and expansion of more than 25 million ounces of gold. Prior to Nevada Gold, his junior public company experience was as Head Geologist and Vice President of Exploration with Tone Resources, which traded on the Toronto Venture Exchange and was acquired by US Gold (NYSE: UXG-News).

Dave Mathewson has recently stated, “Nevada Gold Holdings will remain an exploration company. We do not plan to go into production. Instead we will seek to identify large scale deposits and then either joint venture with the majors or sell the properties entirely. I have been an exploration geologist my entire career and believe the biggest value creation happens in the gold mining industry when junior exploration companies successfully discover new deposits. I believe there are still several major deposits waiting to be discovered in Nevada, which is one of the most prolific gold regions on the planet.”
So Why Nevada?
Nevada is a world-famous, mining-friendly state and the leading gold-producing state in the United States. According to the January 2008 U.S. Geological Survey, in 2007, approximately 7.7 million ounces of gold is produced in the U.S.; placing fourth largest nation behind Australia, South Africa and China.1 Nevada is home to some of the largest known gold deposits on earth, produ cing over 80% of the U.S. gold production.2
